Coffee Bean Grinder
I recently upgraded to a Capresso thermal coffeemaker. My bean grinder is an old Krups, and the grind looks too coarse to me. Do I need a new one, and if so, what do people recommend?

Bean grinder
I, too, now use a stainless steel, thermal coffee maker and am in search of a better grinder. I've had the same one for ten years or more, and the beans do seem too course. I've considered a grinder with burrs rather than the whirling blade variety. Any opinions?

I put the er in uh grinder...
The best 'budget' burr-style coffee grinder is probably the Capresso 560.01 Infinity Burr Grinder (if you aren't too picky about grind consistency). Burr models grind coffee beans between metal discs for a finer ground. Not only does it grind coffee finely enough for pump espresso machines, but it can also work for drip coffee makers, especially if you like stronger coffee.

Coffee Grinder
I recently purched a Mr. Coffee Grinder, not the basic, but the most expensive model. It allows you to set the type of grind to coarse, medium or fine and it allows you to set the number of cups. I use a drip method and this grinder grinds to a powder. It seems to almost "overgrind".

A burr grinder is the only way to get a consistant grind, just make sure that you adjust the fineness to what ever type of machine you're using. I have a Krups and can adjust from cracked to powder. One rule keep your burrs clean, I clean once a week just to keep the old build-up of grounds off. Stef

I have been using the Cuisinart grinder for a long time and it does a good job - and it not expensive - some of the units you see a mega $
